Don't Let Me Fall

Piano in the background
As rare winter rain dance upon the windowpane
The rhythm sways me
…but my thoughts within, grounds me to a harsh reality

Once again I spread my wings to fly
Only to be plucked from the sky
I'm done with wondering ''why''
Never the one for tears
Sweet red wine become a metallic stain
…as the winter wind mingles with it's friend the rain.

A smile playing on painted lips
…as this moment will never be again
Ironic how we find our friend solitude
Hanging around on days that should be shared.

This is when I would place my head on your shoulders
This is the moment where you take my hand in yours
This is where my lips would softly caress yours...
This is the moment where you would tell me
...you will never let me fall...

Instead…this is the moment where silence lulls a sad soul
Reality strokes his cold hand across my cheek
Daring me to speak
Mocking my blindness as ignorance

The piano has drowned out all sound
Suffocating every thought of wonderment
The rain dances no more
…but the wind still whispers soothingly as night falls...

A smile plays on painted lips
As remembrance embraces the fragments of a lost heart
Wondering if the dreamer in you will ever truly fly
Wondering if you truly heard the words

…when I whispered to you,  ''I won't ever let you fall...''

  1. Pauli you touched on a difficult reality many face in trying to 'get it right' with the person they care for. A little saddening but very well depicted.
