Empathetic Fortuity

(a tanka)

a lonely night spent

on the unforgiving streets
cold was the night air
each passing moment unclear
appeased by simple comforts

  2. Rory...this is so beautiful. This is the kind of poetry / art I love the most.
There is most definitely WAY more to this than initially meets the eye.
I read it first thing in the morning, and because of it's initial "simplicity", the words echoed in my mind all day. The real power of this actually didn't begin to sink in until I went for a walk through my city today. Suddenly, new things jumped out of me. Things that I would most likely have walked past and not noticed came into my view, and a thousand new stories formed in my mind. All because of this! The way the music ends is perfect...like a bottle being discarded on the curb, it echoes....
The picture is really thoughtful and indicative of how you view life. You see things Rory. Set to the back drop of a great musical score, this is one addictive write, that will say with me for a very long time.
