Not So Merry Go Round

knocking at my door pleading frantically
for a place to relax and a moment to heal
she asked if she could shower and have a meal
teardrops rolling down her cheeks
a cigarette lit
distress consuming her demeanor
having just sold her body for a crack hit
a full fledged moral dilemma
her consciousness tearing her apart
wanting and needing to talk things out
but not knowing how or where to start
the world is her enemy
she so angrily proclaimed
feeling unworthy of any kindness
while attempting to conceal her shame
as a friend, I could only offer encouraging words
while presently she is not at her best
still she is a divine creation
and because of this
I will always be impressed
ever so thankful
to receive these gifts from a friend
she walked back out in to the world
despite this circumstance
only to hit the block again
it is my sincere hope
she lifts herself up from being down
and cease this illusory ride she's taking
on her mental merry-go-round
